In the interest of not clogging up everybody's Friend's page, i've put each day behind a cut. Make sure to check out the full picture set on FLickr, too!

Thursday

in which i'm drunk, shirtless, and enter a bear contest )

Friday

We go to the museums, the grassy knoll, a party, and dancin' )

Saturday

I get some game lessons, discover chicken fried corn-on-the-cob, and meet a diva )

Sunday

I show off my easter bunny, have more beer and jell-o shooters, and a lot of fun )

Monday

Woke up, checked out of the hotel, and hung around with Mikey, Matt, Tim, the other Matt, and Chuck. Headed off to a Waffle House for lunch before getting on our flight home.

Observations about the trip

  1. By Sunday morning, just about everybody was talking with a bit of a drawl. Lots and Lots of Ya'll's being tossed about.
  2. I met so many fun and interesting people; more than I can possibly remember. Please don't feel insulted if I've forgotten your name, LJ-, and/or Flickr handle.
  3. All of the locals I met and talked with were SO friendly! Granted, they were mostly all in the gay-friendly sections of town, but many weren't. Yay, Dallas!
  4. Sometimes, you just need to say "Fuck it! Why the hell not?". You might just wind up on a stage with a bunch of other hot, shirtless guys, and having an awesome time! So what if you don't win? It's the journey that matters. And oh, what a journey it was :-)

I want to thank all the people I met, hung out with, and had fun with. Ya'll are such a great bunch of people!

I'm all set to go to TBRU, with two little exceptions... getting to the airport, and getting to the hotel on Thursday. heh.

If anybody is getting to the San Diego airport sometime around noon on Thursday, could I catch a ride there with you?

Also, If anybody will be arriving in Dallas / Fort Worth about 6:45-ish, can I share a cab with you to the hotel? I'm staying in the Marriott Residence Inn.

Looking forward to seeing ya'll there!

Friday, I was talking to [livejournal.com profile] rugbybearpa about TBRU. He wanted to know if I was going, and I said that I was not. I just didn't 'get' what it was all about. I've talked to a bunch of people about TBRU, and they've all told me basically the same thing. But this time.. it suddenly hit me.

OMG! this could be.. like.. a vacation!

See... I've never taken a vacation. In my 41 years, the only vacations i've ever had were family events. I've never been able to just do my own thing, never been able to just kick it and relax.

Saturday, a bunch of us were getting our geek on playing WoW and we started talking about TBRU. It all started to sound really cool! TBRU. Men! Parties! Men! Chillin' and relaxin'! Men! Meeting new people! and lots of hot, hairy, beefy MEN!

I'm totally sold. I wanna go. But of course I have a ton of questions. :-)

  • Weather - what's it usually like there in March?
  • Transportation - Suggestions on plane tickets? Are people going to try to go together in groups?
  • Hotels - I see that rooms aren't too expensive. Do people usually share rooms?
  • Food - yeah yeah. BBQs are fun and stuff. And I know most of you bears are all about meat. But I'm a veggie. Are there any veggie options usually? or other places I can get non-meat food? ;-)
  • Other expenses - What other kinds of expenses should I expect?

I know, most of these questions are probably second nature to you all. But like I said, I've only ever traveled with family. And that means that most all of those details were taken care of for me. heh. Even tho I've traveled throughout Europe and the US... I've never done it on my own. I'm a travel n00b.
