So, the morning DJs on 91x this morning were going on and on about how amazing this Bacon Salt thing is. They even got the inventors on the phone and interviewed them.

Bacon Salt. And it's kosher, and vegetarian. I think I may need to try this.

Thank you everybody for the warm welcome and kind words!

Hot dog on a stickFirst - I would like to add a 'thank you' to [livejournal.com profile] pinner123. After we talked about hot dogs Monday night, it started me thinking about the veggie-dogs. Even when i wasn't a veggie, I was never a big fan of hot dogs. They were ok, smothered in.. like.. tons of catsup, mustard, maybe some onions. Last night, tho, Justin and I were out doing some xmas shopping, and there was a Hot Dog on a Stick in the food court. And they had VEGGIE DOGS!

Of course, I had to try one. Just to see if my tastes had changed at all. The first bite was "oh. yeah. this tastes exactly like i remember them to taste ( 20 years ago)".. but then, something magical happened. I actually thought " huh. this isn't that bad after all. hey. this is kinda good!"

So now, i'm totally going to get some of those Morning Star Veggie Corn Dogs and see how they are.

It's always cool to challenge yourself, and find new things to enjoy!

Second - After the amazing reception you guys gave me, I was gushing about it to my best friend, Justin ([livejournal.com profile] raisincub). He decided it was time for him to get on LJ as well. Please help me in welcoming him to LJ!

OK, so, like... after a couple years of having my blog elsewhere, i've decided to try using LiveJournal. Mostly, it's on the advice of a new friend.

So.. some quick facts about me (which you can also pick up on in my little bio section).

Yes, I am a vegetarian. I've been one for 20 years.

Yes, i'm also a Buddhist. It turns out that I had kind of been believing the same stuff about life, the universe, and our role in it for years and years before I had even learned what Buddhists were all about. When I started learning about Buddhism, and especially Theravada Buddhism, it was an amazingly good fit.

And that's the reason for the title of my blog; the "middle path" is the path away from the extremes of indulgence and self-mortification and toward the practice of wisdom, morality and mental cultivation .

In other words, the middle path is about finding a balance in life. This blog is about the people, places, and things I meet on that path.

It will also be a place for me to bitch about and/or make fun of the totally stupid people I meet along the way ;-)
