A While ago, Dave O ([livejournal.com profile] pinner123 and I were in LA, and he took me to this place called the Echo Park Time Travel Mart, which is part of the 826 group. They provide tutoring and creative writing classes for underprivileged kids. They help support themselves with different themed stores. The one in New York is Superhero themed, The Seattle store is Space Travel themed, etc.

Dave and I went to the LA store, and they had some pretty cool and fun stuff (here's some more pictures from the store on buzzfeed.com's site). They have a series of posters that I thought was awesome. Here are the four:

I went to a framer, and got a quote of about $1300 to have all four done. Although I really like the posters, I just wasn't in the mood to pay that much to have them framed - event tho the frames were awesome, and looked PERFECT. I took 'em to Rob ([livejournal.com profile] crimsonsaint) to see what they had at his place, and we were able to find some decent pre-made frames that looked really good. I picked up the finished postes from Rob on Friday, and then after a nice lunch today with [livejournal.com profile] mdarnaud I came back to my house and mounted them on the wall.

Lookie!
finally! some artwork on the walls!

Those look great, JP! I like the science theme, and they add a lot of color to the room, too.

Thanks! I thought they were really clever, too. Did you zoom in on the posters and read the bottoms? the "Fire Good, but also bad" poster has the credits as "The Neolithic Emerging Technology Board and the Federation for the Advancement of Time: Always Moving Forward", whereas the Changes poster credits "The Council of Intertemporal Relations and the Federation for the Advancement of Time: Always Moving Forward".

I ordered a set of their posters a couple of years ago. Seeing yours framed and hung has inspired me! I'm going to do it too! I'll post a link to the posters if I can find one - they are in storage right now.

Edit: I bought the Vintage Time Travel set.
